I am wondering if it is worth it for me to install more security cameras around the building that I manage. I have been having some issues lately with people breaking in during the middle of the night. I got a security camera system installed about a month ago in the hopes that I could catch the person in the act and get him or her off the streets. People like that belong in jail, I have no sympathy for them whatsoever. My camera system worked well, I was able to see that somebody was breaking into my building in the early morning hours, but they were too far away from my cameras for me to figure out who it was. The police at least now believe me and will be patrolling the area more, but now I have a decision to make. Should I install some cameras closer to the area where the vandal is breaking into my building?

Shooting a Movie in the Deep End
Yesterday I completed a movie that I have been filming for a couple of weeks now. It is shot completely underwater, most of it in the deep end of my next door neigbor’s pool. Because my neighbor has a dark bottom pool, the effect was that I was able to shoot pretty cool sequences that looked as if I was shooting in a dark swamp in the middle of the rainforest.
You may asked how I shot all of this. Well, about two months ago I started researching waterproof cameras. I wanted something that would be relevant and could compete with the best waterproof camera 2012, in case some new technology came out that would make mine obsolete. I ended up with the Nikon Coolpix and I am satisfied with my purcase. This camera can shoot full HD videos and is great to take on camping, canoeing and kayaking trips.

Holy Cow These New Samsung TV’s
I went to Best Buy the other day, and holy cow! I was going to finally make a TV decision between an LCD vs LED TV. They had a display section of the newest Samsung models and it was showing how they, in particular, had a technology (don’t remember the name of it) that addressed the jerkiness in fast action onscreen that is so typical in virtually any tv. You had to see the picture on this screen. It was incredible, to say the least. I must say…the Sony was probably equally as good…but a lot more expensive. But the picture was so good on the Samsung…that it stood out amongst all the other sets yards and yards away. Bright, extremely crisp, and the contrast was phenominal…with the blacks being very black and the colors not running. It almost looked like the picture couldn’t get any better…which is pretty scary to say.

If I were a philosophical man I might attribute that to a growing fear people have generally that mankind has permanently damaged the climate and the weather ahead is truly unpredictable. But I think the real reason is much more prosaic.
Electronics have never been so cheap and reliable and so the real reason is that these stations are self-maintaining and are just fun to use and observe.
A typical mid-range weather station will cost little more than sixty to eighty pounds and have the capabilities of a professional station of ten years ago. Certainly, the processor inside is more powerful than a super computer of the 1960s. The main difference remains the quality of the collection and the interpretation of the collated results.
You do not need a mathematics degree to forecast weather any more and it’s fun to use your own weather station to take on the experts at their own game.
